KDR the Company

Since being founded in March 1991 KDR Creative Software has grown from a small consultancy to operating and staffing three direct offices and managing 8 Distributors worldwide.

The company founder is Mr. Kevin Ramsey, who had been contracting in the maintenance management software arena since 1985 and who had previously worked for an Australian software company that had successfully sold enterprise wide software packages including Plant Maintenance, to the Australian and North American markets since 1982.

With the advent of improved user interfaces via PC’s and Unix Workstations at the end of the 1980’s, Mr. Ramsey saw an opportunity to develop a niche CMMS product that would marry the sophisticated product functionality that had evolved during his earlier experiences, with the Graphical User Interfaces, Client/Server architecture and RDBMS capabilities that were emerging at the time.

This led to the development of the Facilities Maintenance Management System product (FMMS) and its initial release to the Australian CMMS market during 1991.

After a slow start, due in main to an economic recession that was occurring at the time, through persistence and blind faith, the product emerged as a leader in its class during late 1992.

The mid 1990s saw an explosion of sales and subsequent growth at KDR in order to address the increasing demands in support, training, marketing and ongoing development of the product.

In addition, KDR sought and appointed Distributors for its product within Australia and overseas, resulting in further growth over the coming years and the establishment of a world-wide network of sales and support capabilities.
